Cleary's Restaurant raises

funds and spirits on Dine for America Day

In response to the tragedy on September 11, Wes and Mercedes Cleary, owners of Cleary's Restaurant & Spirits in Menlo Park Plaza, and members of the Oregon Restaurant Association (ORA) participated with fellow ORA members, and restaurants nationwide in  "Dine for America" day on Thursday, October 11. A portion of all restaurant profits on this day went to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

Cleary's two establishments raised and donated over $1000. According to Bob Petow of the ORA, restaurants across the state raised over $500,000. Totals for the entire United States were unavailable at press time. A big Memo hurrah for those participating restaurants and patrons.

Tony Rizzo was born October 22, 1922 in New Jersey. In 1946 he hitchhiked to Portland, where he met his wife Jean. They were married in January 1947. Tony has owned and operated four salons in the Portland area: Smart Set, Classique, Anthony's West, and Anthony's East. Tony also worked as a stylist at Meier & Frank for many years.  He's been working at About You, a Mid-county salon located at 1736 N.E. 122nd Avenue, for the last three years. Tony continues to have a strong loyal following. His presence and humor brighten the days of his coworkers, and they're all sure he'll still be going strong on his 85th birthday. Keep on clipping Tony.
