The pedestrian hit by a vehicle on Southeast Powell Blvd. Friday died last night at a Portland hospital, according to police.
Investigators learned the 70-year-old woman attempted to cross the street in the 133rd block of Southeast Powell Boulevard when she was struck by an eastbound GMC Yukon driven by a 67-year-old man.
There is no marked crosswalk at this location.
The driver stopped and remained at the scene. He was not impaired by drugs or alcohol and cooperated fully with the investigation, police said.
Investigators believe darkness, dense fog and dark clothing worn by the woman were contributing factors to this crash. The driver’s estimated speed was between 25-30 miles per hour.
No citations have been issued and upon completion of the investigation, it will be sent to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.
Police are releasing names of the driver and victim later today.
