“The job of chairing a neighborhood association is so critical and challenging that it is important for volunteers to have training and support,” says Richard Bixby, director of the East Portland Neighborhood Office. “Past and current chairs are an excellent source of ideas and advice.”

The workshop is designed for long-time and recently elected neighborhood association chairs and people thinking about becoming neighborhood chairs. Event addresses study of transit station area
The city of Portland has initiated a study of 122nd Avenue Transit Station Area. Focused on the area around the TriMet MAX light rail station on East Burnside Street and 122nd Avenue, the study will explore future development options near the station. Plans call for the area to become more transit-oriented and pedestrian friendly over time. Key questions that will be explored as part of the study include what future role auto dealers will play in the area, and how the streetscape and surrounding buildings should be designed.

Join neighbors, businesspeople, city planners, and a consultant team at a kickoff open house to learn more about existing conditions in the area, and to share your ideas about the future. The open house is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 7 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Adventist Medical Center, Education Center A, 10123 S.E. Market St. An overview presentation is scheduled for 7 p.m., but the public is welcome to drop-in at any convenient time during the open house.
