Students to perform “Thoroughly Modern Millie”
The David Douglas High School Performing Arts Department is proud to present a hilarious look at 1920s New York as depicted in a play based on the musical film of 1967. A wonderful cast of characters fills out this high-spirited musical romp that has all of New York dancing the Charleston. Swinging big band jazz and wonderful musical numbers like “What Do I Need with Love?” “Forget about the Boy” and “Only New York” make this musical a treat for the whole family. The show includes over a hundred David Douglas students. Come and see students from your community shine.

Performances will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 3-5 and 10-12 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2:30 p.m. Prices are $7 for students and seniors, $10 for adults. Tickets are available at the Performing Arts Center box office, 1400 S.E. 130th Ave., on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on school days and an hour before show time. Tickets can also be ordered through the mail. You will find the order form at www.ddouglas.k12.or.us/node/1906 or you may call the box office at 503-261-8270.

Art exhibit reveals hidden life of toys
Children and adults alike can appreciate Toy Life, an upcoming art exhibit at Mt. Hood Community College. Primarily a portrait artist, Terence Healy decided to apply his talent to painting pictures of toys. He found discarded toys at thrift shops and created scenes of them interacting with other toys.

“All people have some element of dignity to them, have an energy, have stories to tell,” Healy said. “I see and feel these qualities in toys.”

Toy Life will be displayed in the Fireplace Gallery from Friday, Dec. 4 to Tuesday, Dec. 22. The Fireplace Gallery is located in the College Center Lounge on the Gresham campus, 26000 S.E. Stark St., and is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For more information on the Fireplace Gallery, contact Pam Kuretich at 503-491-7260.
Individuals requiring accommodations due to a disability may contact the MHCC Disability Services Office at 503-491-6923 or 503-491-7670 (TDD). Please call at least two weeks prior to the event to ensure availability.
