Argay Annual clean up tomorrow

The Argay Neighborhood Association annual clean up is tomorrow, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Shaver Elementary, 3701 N.E. 131st Place.

Appliances, scrap metal, microwaves and yard debris are welcome at the annual event.

Because Metro sponsors the clean up, the ANA charges nominal fees: $10 for a car or trunk full and $20 for a truck or trailer. Questions? Call 503-256-5579.

They will not accept: hazardous materials, herbicides, paint, motor oil, tires or electronics for disposal.


Metro seeks public comment on federal transportation projects schedule

Residents of the Metro region are invited to view and comment on the upcoming four-year schedule of federal transportation investments in the Portland area. The four-year schedule, known as the 2012-2015 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program, encompasses all federal spending on transportation, including highways, public transit, pedestrian and bike projects in the three-county metropolitan area. Public comments are being accepted through noon, Monday, Feb. 13.

The MTIP includes all federally funded transportation projects in the Portland metropolitan area, including projects planned by TriMet, the Oregon Department of Transportation and local agencies receiving federal funds allocated by Metro.


County Board to recommend urban and rural reserves designation

On Thursday, December 10, 2009, The Multnomah County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing to recommend designations for Urban and Rural Reserves in Multnomah County.  The hearing will take place at 10:30 a.m. in Board Hearing Room 100 at the Multnomah Building, 501 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd.

The Board will hear public testimony and adopt a resolution authorizing Commissioner Jeff Cogen and staff to forward recommendations for urban and rural reserve designations in Multnomah County to the effort’s “Core 4” representatives.


Argay NA reports successful clean up

At its annual clean held  Saturday, east Portland’s Argay Neighborhood Association chair Valerie Curry said more than 120 vehicles deposited over 18 tons of household discards, yard debris, scrap metal and tires for disposal or recycling.

ANA chair  Curry said the volunteer help they received from members of the Parkrose High School soccer team,  led by PHS junior varsity soccer coach Arlo DeLeon,  was invaluable.

Also on site helping were members of the  Portland Police Bureau Cadets.

The ANA partnered with Metro and Portland’s Bureau of Planning & Sustainability to produce the annual event.
