A news release from the Multnomah Co. Sheriff’s Office about a group of thrill seeking BASE jumpers causing problems in east county follows.

“At about 0830 on (Sunday) May 29, 2011 a report was received of a BASE jumper plummeting to the ground after his parachute failed to properly deploy. Emergency responders were dispatched to East Multnomah County.  The jumper was part of a group that jumped together off of Crown Point. Deputies from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and Volunteer Firefighters and related apparatus from Corbett Rural Fire District 14 responded to the area near the bottom of Crown Point.

“The East County Courts Project will hold an informational meeting about the proposed East County Justice Center Tuesday, March 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Parklane Christian Refomed Church, 16001 S.E. Main St.

“The purpose of the meeting is to update community members and get their comments on the status of the East County Courts. The agenda includes: Brief overview on recent history of the project by the Project Manager Comments at beginning and end from Commissioners McKeel and Shiprack.

The Wilkes Community Group meets tomorrow, from 7-9 p.m. in the Margaret Scott Elementary School library, 14700 N.E. Sacramento St.
