Recall Adams campaign gets Argay activists support
Received an e-mail from Argay neighborhood activist Sharon Mershon (profiled in November 2003 f or volunteer work Mershon and husband Clare did—and still do—in the Argay neighborhood) asking us to sign the recall Mayor Sam Adams petition. Told her we had previously signed, then asked if the campaign to recall Adams was collecting signatures at the Parkrose Post Office, when the deadline was and how close she thought they were to achieving the goal; her answers follow.
“Yes, we have seen people collecting signatures at the (Parkrose) Post Office.
“Monday, Oct. 5th, at 5 p.m. is when the petitions are due at the City Auditor’s office. The Recall Sam Adams office, 421 N. Broadway (across from Memorial Coliseum) will be accepting petitions until noon.
“If you know of anyone who would like to sign and hasn’t done so, we have several Recall Sam Adams kits where a person can sign a Circulator’s Agreement, receive basic instructions and immediately collect signatures. The person can turn in their Circulator’s Agreement with their petitions. We turned in our petitions last night and learned that the campaign to Recall Sam is very close.
“They need 32,800 signatures, plus 10% to allow for errors. Every signture counts. The phone number for the Recall Sam office is 503-995-3858.
Thank you.”
