Portland Christian Chess Team wins state
We received a note from Portland Christian Jr/Sr High School Chess Team Coach Alan Svehaug announcing they won the 2A Championship this weekend.
It follows:
Portland Christian Chess Team Won the 2A State Championship trophy this weekend in Roseberg, Oregon.
Varsity Team members were Steven Koch, Chance Rossi, Raymond Cho, Andy Harding, Ryan Harding, Dylan Gardner, and Isaiah Rowlett.
Steven Koch Won the All State plaque for a perfect score on Board 1
Ryan Harding Won the All State plaque for a perfect score on Board 5
In the individual tournaments for alternates Dylan Gardner won 1st place in Blitz (speed chess – 5 minutes each) and Isaiah Rowlett tied for 2nd place.
In the main individual tournament Rowlett and Gardner tied for 2nd place.
Our Chess Team performed well and brought honor to our school.
