Parkrose Educational Foundation auction a huge success

Just over 150 people spent an average of $230 apiece making the third annual Parkrose Educational Foundation auction and dinner a smashing success. The yearly auction and dinner, held in May, grossed over $35,000.

This year’s event, for the first time not held at the high school in east Portland, was held at the Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel. Another first, it was a 21 and over event. And it was highly successful.

After deducting the dinner, auction and other one time expenses, net total for the night was $21,575.84.
With “Hats off to Parkrose the theme for the event, $10,025 was raised for Promising Futures The district wide homeless student project.

Funds raised at the auction enable the Foundation to offer $10,000 in grants to schools in the Parkrose School District.
The Parkrose Educational Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization composed of a nine member board of volunteers. Board members are Parkrose residents or school district employees. The Foundation’s officers are elected on yearly. This is a volunteer organization this means no paid staff members allowing the majority of funds received to be directed to the student activities and for needed supplies and equipment.

In recent years the Foundation has addressed a wide variety of student body needs ranging from much needed buses for field trips, to playground, band and football equipment. The Foundation has made contributions to scholarship programs, school libraries and student government.
