Opinions sought on new Gateway sign

GABA sign

What is your opinion of the new “Welcome to Gateway” sign recently installed on the traffic island near Northeast 112th Avenue, where Weidler Street and Halsey Street intersect?
First, a little background on the subject.
In partnership with the Parkrose Heights Association of Neighbors and the Hazelwood Neighborhood Association, the Gateway Area Business Association created that sign and another “Welcome to Gateway” sign on Southeast Cherry Blossom Street near Mall 205. The two signs had existed since the late 1990s.
In 2004 a drunk driver demolished the original “Welcome to Gateway?”wooden sign at Northeast 112th Avenue.
After collecting money from an insurance policy on the signage, GABA hired a different sign maker for this new “Welcome to Gateway” sign.
We’re glad to see a replacement sign.
We’re asking for your opinion on how this new one looks compared to the previous wooden sign.
