New Parkrose Business Association President resigns
On the board of the Parkrose Business Association for the last three years and 2007 Vice-President, Jon Turino announced his resignation as PBA president after only two months in an e-mail to the Mid-county Memo.
In response to the monthly “advertising deadline e-mail reminder” sent current and prospective Mid-county Memo advertisers, Farmers Insurance agent and Memo advertiser Jon Turino replied with some sad news.
“I am basically putting my Farmers agency to sleep beginning March 1st. I will continue to service my existing clients but will cease soliciting new business. I have accepted the position of Executive Director for the APNBA (Alliance of Portland Neighbohood Business Associations), so I won’t be doing any more advertising this year.
“Looks like I’ll have to give up GABA (Gateway Area Business Association) and PBA (Parkrose Business Association) board membership and PBA presidency as part of the terms of my APNBA agreement.
“We’ll still keep in touch re: the (Parkrose) Festival and Cruise-In.
I don’t know if this is a good thing or bad thing long term, but it is the only short term solution to my current issues.”
Turino has been ubiquitous at east Portland events, community fairs, and business and neighborhood meetings for years.
He is very involved, busy man and we’re sad to lose him, but it sounds like a wonderful opportunity for Jon to help the entire city and the Mid-county community.
We wish him the best of luck in his new position.
As soon as the Memo knows who is succeeding Turino as PBA president, we’ll share that news.
