Leonard, Avakian host east Portland town hall

Portland City Commissioner Randy Leonard and State Sen. Brad Avakian will host a community town hall on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 7 to 9 p.m., at David Douglas High School, 1001 S.E. 135th Ave. The public is cordially invited.

This is the second town hall-style meeting planned by the pair this month. The first was held Jan. 9 in Northwest Portland; the theme for both: “Livable Communities.”

The town hall will focus on issues such as land use, water resources, renewable energy, public safety and emergency response. The town hall will begin with a short presentation by both Leonard and Avakian, followed by questions from and a discussion with community members.

An official press release from the city of Portland told the Memo that, “Both Sen. Avakian and Commissioner Leonard look forward to kicking off the New Year by hearing from community members about the issues that affect the daily livability of our communities.”
