Expletive not deleted from October Memo
Mistakenly — and unfortunately — an expletive (the “f-word”) appeared in an article in last moth’s print version of the Mid-county Memo.
We apologize for the inclusion and regret the error. A correction has been made to the online version.
The exchange between a Memo reader Kris Sutherland — pointing out our oversight — and Memo Department Editor Darlene Vinson follows:
“Dear Kris:
We are happy to learn you enjoyed the Terry Robb article.
As you might imagine, there was a great deal of editing in that piece. We do not know how we managed to let that one slip through. We apologize, regret the error and promise to do better next time.
The Memo will be appropriate for your young readers from here on out.
Sincerely,
Darlene Vinson
Mid-county Memo”

“Hello,
The article on Terry Robb was absorbing, and as I turned pages and read every word… the f-word appeared on page 15!!
Why? The Oregonian with its more and more detailed descriptions of sex crimes recently stopped service to our home because of our young, able readers. So far we have enjoyed the local, newsy Mid-county Memo.
Sincerely,
Kris Sutherland”
