East Portland’s Care Center East has new ombudsman
Joan Ivan, a resident of inner Northeast Portland, was recently appointed by Long-Term Care Ombudsman for the State of Oregon Meredith Cote to serve as a certified ombudsman.
Ivan will serve as the ombudsman to the residents of east Portland’s Care Center East Health & Specialty Care, located at 11325 N.E. Weidler St., along with three adult foster care homes in Portland.
She will serve as an advocate for the residents of long-term care facilities, helping to ensure the residents receive the best care possible. Ivan is a marketing and advertising consultant.
The Office of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman is a program of the State of Oregon, dedicated to protecting the rights, safety and dignity of the residents of nursing homes, residential care facilities, assisted living facilities and adult foster care homes.
In addition to certified ombudsmen, the Office of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman also recruits volunteers to serve as friendly visitors through the Resident Associate Program. Training sessions for certified ombudsmen and RAP volunteers are held regularly.
