City receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for 18th year
The Memo receives a plethora of e-mails from individuals, organizations and all levels of govenment notifying us of a number of things. We wanted to pass this one, from Mary Volm, media contact at the City of Portland’s Management & Finance Bureau along; supplying residents with one of the many reasons why Portland is such a great city to live and work in.
Here it is:
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United Sates and Canada has presented Portland with its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. This award represents significant achievement by the City in meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. The City of Portland has received the award for 18 consecutive years.
Recipients of the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award must satisfy national guidelines for effective budget presentation and receive a proficient rating on how well the entity’s budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications device.
Accompanying the Award, the Financial Planning Division of the Office of Management & Finance was also presented a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation. Award and certificate recipients across North America have consistently demonstrated pioneering efforts to improve budgeting quality and serve as an outstanding example for other governments.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving thousands of government finance professionals across North America. The GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national program that recognizes outstanding achievement in governmental budgeting.
