Check out Pho Thien, Gentle Memories, Gentle Shoe Shop in east Portland, Oregon
If you are looking for a unique dining experience, check out Pho Thien Vietnamese Cuisine at 10041 N.E. Glisan St. Owner Andy Nguyen operates a great place to enjoy a variety of delicious food items, including pho.
I wondered what pho was all about, so I ordered some at Andy’s restaurant, and it was super cool! It’s a soup, but more. I can’t even describe it well enough, so you’ll have to stop by and check it out for yourself. Call 503-256-0217 for hours.
I’d also like advise readers of the Memo to check out Gentle Memories and Gentle Shoe Shop at 10945 N.E. Halsey St. in Gateway. Run by the ever-friendly husband and wife team of Frankie and Jesse Gentle, it’s a great place for shoe repair, sure, but readers of the Memo need to know that a great lady, Frankie Gentle, operates her Gentle Memories shop, featuring antiques and collectibles. Surely you’ve driven by and seen the sign; stop in, say hello, and tell them Rich from the Memo sent you.
And, in the world of full disclosure, let me just say that Andy at Pho Thien has been an advertiser in the Memo in the past, and that Frankie and Jesse Gentle are frequent advertisers.

After reading this, I had to check it out. I love Pho, and yesterdays weather provided the perfect day for it. I never go down Glisan past 102nd, so I didn’t even know it was there! The last time I noticed what was in their location it was a Thai restaurant, and that was over a year ago.
I found the service friendly, and the soup excellent. The noodles and meat were not dried out and clumped together like some I’ve had, and the broth was tasty.
I tried the house special without the meatballs, and it was great. All the usual condiments to dress it up were there. I used the lime, the fish sauce, some of the hot oil from the glass dish, and the big jar of hot sauce.
I’ve usually driven over to 82nd Ave when I get my cravings to eat Pho, but now I don’t have to anymore! Thanks for the tip!
Thanks Scott for patronizing a past
Memo advertiser.
