Early this morning, around 1 a.m., a police officer was driving east on Division Street at about Southeast 85th when he was flagged down by a motorist who told him a bicyclist had just been hit and run by a black SUV.
The officer immediately requested medical personnel to the scene to treat the cyclist, but soon after medical help arrived, the bicyclist was pronounced dead. The same officer was approached by a 17-year-old bicyclist who had also been struck by the SUV. The 17-year-old was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

After a 12-hour search that began around 1 a.m. this morning, four men suspected of robbing Rounders Cafe, 11416 N.E. Halsey St. in Gateway were apprehended by police; one, 34-year-old Antonio Denon Carter of Northeast Portland (also known as Anthony Williams), was found hiding on the roof of a nearby house.
When officers from East Precinct arrived, suspects were fleeing from the scene on foot southward into the neighborhood. Police set up a perimeter from Northeast Halsey to Glisan Streets, from 112th to 118th Avenues. Patrol officers from East Precinct stopped a vehicle leaving the area and arrested the driver, 35-year-old Mckeever Watkins Thompson Jr. of Northeast Portland, as one of the robbery suspects.

Early this morning, police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to Rounder’s Café, a lottery deli, at 11416 Northeast Halsey Street on a report of an armed robbery in progress.
Arriving officers observed three suspects fleeing the area on foot. Two African American males and one white male; all three were last seen wearing dark clothing.
Officers immediately established a perimeter. The perimeter boundaries were Northeast 112th Avenue to 118th Avenue, Halsey Street to Glisan Street.
Once the perimeter was established officers activated the Special Emergency Reaction Team. S.E.R.T. is called when suspects in violent felonies like armed robbery occur. SERT has the additional training and tools available to them to resolved dangerous situations like this one.

Last night, around 10 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of shots fired in the area of the Southeast 135th Avenue and Sherman Street. Officers arrived in the area and found a man shot. Medical personnel responded and transported the victim to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The shooting is now a homicide. Portland Police Homicide Detectives indicated the male adult shot tonight is deceased as a result of his wounds. The investigation is continuing and no additional details will be released at this time.

A news release from the Portland Police Bureau about a man who died at Portland Adventist after being taken into custody.
“Today, Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 4:08 a.m. Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct made a traffic stop of a 1988 Cadillac at Southeast 122nd and Bush for defective equipment, no taillight. The vehicle had four occupants. In addition to the driver, there was a front seat passenger and two passengers in the back seat. Officers made contact with the driver and observed the left rear passenger was not wearing a seatbelt. Officers obtained the identification of the driver and the left rear passenger and conducted a routine computer check. The computer check revealed that the driver did not have insurance on the vehicle.

“Early this morning, Tuesday May 17, 2011, at approximately 12:31 a.m., Portland Police officers from East Precinct responded to the report of shots fired in the area of 15920 Southeast Division Street. While officers were enroute they received additional information that someone might have been shot and that several people were chasing the suspect.

Early this morning, the Portland Police Bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction Team served a search warrant at a residence in the 1000 block of Northeast 110th Avenue. While inside the residence, the officers discovered a methamphetamine lab.
Five people have been detained at this point as officers from the Drugs and Vice Division begin processing the lab and and collecting evidence. The search warrant is related to a Gun Task Force investigation.
Additional details will be released as they become available.

кухненски диваниA news Release from Portland Police Bureau about the arrest of two men, one a minor, for holding up an outer Southeast Portland resident at gunpoint after meeting him on Craigslist for the ostensible purpose of buying the victim’s laptop.
This afternoon, Monday February 28, 2011, at approximately 4:02 p.m., Portland Police officers responded to a residence in the 11200 block of Southeast Insley Street on the report of an armed robbery. No injuries were reported and the victim told police that the suspects were both armed with handguns and stole his computer.

A news release from Portland Police Bureau about an industrious identity and property theft ring centered in a Parkrose house follows:
Portland Police Bureau North Precinct Detectives in conjunction with officers from East and Central Precincts, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and Tigard Police Department executed six search warrants and recovered property from seven locations in the Portland Metropolitan area today, February 17, 2011.
This was the culmination of an eight month long investigation into one of the largest burglary, identity theft, and stolen property fencing operations in recent history.

A news release from the Portland Police Bureau about the shooting a few blocks east of 82nd Avenue early yesterday morning follows:
Early this morning, Sunday January 30, 2011, at approximately 4:42 a.m., Portland Police officers responded to the report of gunshots heard in the area of Northeast 87th and Hassalo Street. Several callers reported to 9-1-1 that they heard multiple gunshots in the area.
Officers arrived in the area and found a vehicle with bullet holes parked in the 8500 block of Northeast Hassalo Street. Additionally, officers located two residences in the 8500 and 8600 blocks of Northeast Hassalo Street that sustained bullet holes. There were no people hit by gunfire in either occupied residence or the parked car.
