We strive to be accurate and correct at the Mid-county Memo. However, in last month’s article “Montavilla Kiwanis celebrate 50th Pancake Breakfast with Bluegrass,” we published the wrong date for the event.
The correct date for the Montavilla Kiwanis 50th Annual Pancake Breakfast is Saturday, May 14 at Columbia Christian School’s Johnson Center, 413 N.E. 91st Ave., off 92nd Avenue between Glisan and East Burnside Streets.
Whole families can fill up on pancakes, eggs, ham and the usual breakfast refreshments while enjoying the tunes of a live bluegrass band, all for $12.00 per family.
We sincerely regret the error and apologize to the breakfast organizers.

East Portland’s Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization — with help from a Nike grant — treated current and former teenage refugee clients from Bhutan, Myanmar, Iraq, Vietnam and Somalia to an all-day soccer clinic at Knott Park last month.
The Gateway Center for Domestic Violence Services, at the former site of the Children’s Receiving Center on Northeast 102nd Ave. at East Burnside St., officially opened last month.

In our last blog post, we published an incorrect date for the recurring ca$h for cans fundraiser at Parkrose Middle School.
The correct date for the can drive is next Saturday, Jan. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Parkrose Middle School.
I hope my mistake caused no one else (besides me) to drive to the middle school yesterday.

In last month’s Perlman’s Potpourri item, “City acquires Knott Park addition,” the wrong address for the property was listed. The correct address is 11510 N.E. Knott Street.
In an item in last month’s Business Memo, “Home repair business celebrates anniversary,” Aruel Davidyan’s name was misspelled.
We apologize for the errors.

Mistakenly — and unfortunately — an expletive (the “f-word”) appeared in an article in last moth’s print version of the Mid-county Memo.
We apologize for the inclusion and regret the error. A correction has been made to the online version.
The exchange between a Memo reader Kris Sutherland — pointing out our oversight — and Memo Department Editor Darlene Vinson follows:
“Dear Kris:
We are happy to learn you enjoyed the Terry Robb article.
As you might imagine, there was a great deal of editing in that piece. We do not know how we managed to let that one slip through. We apologize, regret the error and promise to do better next time.

In the March 2007 issue we published a display advertisement for the annual St. Rita Spagehtti and Meatball Dinner. Our display advertisment was wrong in regards to the date and the price. The information below, also in the March issue, is correct. We regret the error.
The 70th annual St. Rita Spaghetti and Meatball Dinner, a Northeast Portland tradition, will be Sunday, April 1 from noon to 6 p.m. in the parish hall at 10029 N.E. Prescott St. in outer east portland

The June 2006 feature story about Helensview School, an alternative school operated by the Multnomah Education Service District, in east Portland, stated an incorrect date for its opening at the former Sumner Elementary school in the Parkrose School District.
MESD began this type of “alternative school in 1977 ” at a different location. In 1994 MESD’s alternative school was moved to the vacant Sumner Elementary building at 8678 N.E. Sumner St. in 1995 and renamed Helensview School.
We regret the error.

The Mid-county Memo strives to be accurate and complete in its coverage, and corrects significant errors of fact. If you see an error in the Mid-county Memo, please call 503-287-8904 or e-mail us at: editor@midcountymemo.com. In Lee Perlman’s article, “Glenhaven Park new home for skateboardersâ€, April 2006 issue, Perlman got the dollar figure allocated for a Glenhaven Skate Park wrong.
The budget for the new Glenhaven Skate Park is $387,000, of which $10,000 is a donation from Van’s Shoes. The money for Glenhaven Skate Park comes from funds reserved after passage of a November 2002 Parks Levy, designating the siting and building of two skateparks in Portland. An incorrect amount for the budget was printed. We regret the error.
