Parkrose Capstone Projects seeks evaluators

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

We received a note from Erica Martin, Community Connections Coordinator at
Parkrose High School Community Center in east Portland.

Seniors’ Capstone Projects need public evaluation. This is a very worthwhile volunteer opportunity as it opens a window on how well educators are educating.  We volunteered to evaluate last year and found it a rewarding experience we heartily recommend to others. If interested,  e-mail Ms. Martin at:  erica_martin@parkrose.k12.or.us, she’ll send the registration form and answer your questions.

“Greetings Friends!

As you may already know, we are gearing up for Senior Boards, here at Parkrose High School. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to listen to, and evaluate our Seniors as they present their Capstone Projects.

The Community Connections Program at Parkrose High School Community Center, 12003 N.E. Shaver St.,  invites you and your family are to this year’s Parkrose Movie Nights finale, Thursday, July 17th from 6—8:30 p.m.

The feature film “Promises”, is a lighthearted movie about Israeli and Palestinian children who become friends despite cultural differences.

The Grand Finale of the free Movie Nights series is co-hosted by Mercy Corps, which sponsored a cultural exchange club at PHS  this summer. The Youth Exchange introduced Parkrose students to young people in Gaza. Each group of students made videos about each other’s homes in order learn more about their world. At Parkrose Movie Night, they’ll be sharing their videos with the audience.
