East County Courts Project holds informational meeting

Because Multnomah County is required to furnish court facilities to adjudicate violations that occur east of 122nd Avenue, the proposed East County Courts Project is important to east Portland. The e-mail follows:

“The East County Courts Project will hold an informational meeting about the proposed East County Justice Center Tuesday, March 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Parklane Christian Refomed Church, 16001 S.E. Main St.

“The purpose of the meeting is to update community members and get their comments on the status of the East County Courts. The agenda includes: Brief overview on recent history of the project by the Project Manager Comments at beginning and end from Commissioners McKeel and Shiprack.

East Portland Action Plan Committee meets Wednesday

The East Portland Action Plan Committee meets at David Douglas School District Board Room,  1500 S.E. 130th Avenue from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Parkrose Heights Association of Neighbors meets Tuesday

The next general meeting of the Parkrose Heights Association of Neighbors is Tuesday, March 23rd. Besides its regular business, the general meeting will feature a City of Portland Radon Expert. Parkrose Heights is listed as the Portland neighborhood with the highest potential for high radon levels according to the EPA.

Parkrose Heights has about 2,500 homes and is located in east Portland, between N.E. 102nd and 122nd Avenues, and from N.E. Halsey St. to the I-84 freeway.

Hazelwood Neighborhood Association meets tonight

Police investigate east Portland stabbing

A news release and update from the Portland Police Bureau follows about morning mayhem in Mid-county’s Glenfair neighborhood:

“On Sunday March 14th, at approximately 1:20 a.m., Portland Police Officers responded to the 14700 block of E. Burnside St. on a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived and encountered a male subject leaving the area. The subject was detained and later determined to be the assailant.

“Officers also discovered an adult female with multiple stab wounds. The female was transported to an area hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time, however, the wounds are serious. It appears the the victim and the suspect knew each other. Detectives responded to the incident and began an investigation. This investigation is currently ongoing.  We hope to additional information later today as the investigation progresses.

Update:
“Portland Police Officers and Detectives have arrested Exie C Phillips, a 24-year-old male, for Attempted Murder and Assault One in relation to this case. Phillips was booked into the Multnomah County Jail pending arraignment. The victim in this case is expected to survive but is in serious condition. While the suspect and the victim are acquaintances, this is not believed to be a case of domestic violence. A booking photograph will be sent to all media.”
