The Gatorade Company, in partnership with RISE Magazine, last month announced that Hill has been tapped as its 2007-08 Gatorade Oregon Volleyball Player of the Year.
Kim Hill is the daughter of Argay residents Bradd and Terri Hill; Bradd Hill owns Chet Hill Insurance, Inc., in Parkrose, an independent agency started by his father in 1954.

the life and ministry of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday,
January 20th during a 10 a.m. worship service.

Portland City Commissioner Randy Leonard and State Sen. Brad Avakian will host a community town hall on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 7 to 9 p.m., at David Douglas High School, 1001 S.E. 135th Ave. The public is cordially invited.
This is the second town hall-style meeting planned by the pair this month. The first was held Jan. 9 in Northwest Portland; the theme for both: “Livable Communities.”
The town hall will focus on issues such as land use, water resources, renewable energy, public safety and emergency response. The town hall will begin with a short presentation by both Leonard and Avakian, followed by questions from and a discussion with community members.
Public meetings are being planned to let citizens in on the Portland Police Bureau’s plans for redistricting, and that includes east Portland’s East Precinct.
Neighbors with the Madison South Neighborhood Association have been given some advanced notice concerning the changes, and apparently their portion of east Portland will be redistricted – out of the East Precinct. Some of those members are unhappy with the plans.
The first public meeting of city officials and the PPB for citizens to view proposed boundary changes, learn about redistricting recommendations and provide feedback regarding changes to the PPB East Precinct will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Banfield Corporate Office, 8000 N.E. Tillamook St.

The new church is called Faithful Savior Ministries, and the combined churches, operating from one site at Northeast 111th Avenue and Skidmore Street in east Portland, held the first Sunday worship on Jan. 6.

The event is hosted by two city of Portland entities, the Office of Neighborhood Involvement and Central Northeast Neighbors. Marcia Dennis, graffiti prevention coordinator with ONI, will teach the graffiti awareness class.
