Argay Neighborhood Association’s National Night Out Against Crime 2007

Since 1981, NATW has been dedicated to the development, growth and maintenance of organized crime and drug prevention programs nationwide. NATW’s network has grown to include over 6,500 crime, drug and violence prevention organizations.

National Night Out,’America’s Night Out Against Crime,’ was introduced by the The National Association of Town Watch. NATW is a nonprofit, crime prevention organization working in cooperation with thousands of crime watch groups and law enforcement agencies throughout the country.

We received a missive from Argay Neighborhood associaiton Chair Valerie Curry containing a report on the Association’s National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, Aug.7.

Parkrose High School mural complete

We received a nice note from Joanne Oleksiak, this summer’s Oregon State Service Corps/AmeriCorps volunteer at Parkrose High school about the recently completed Parkrose High School Community Center mural entitled “Horses Through History & World Cultures.” It follows below.

With help from volunteers artist Larry Kangas installed the final painted panel on Tuesday, August 7th.

This stunning and colorful 1,600 sq ft mural was completed in 35 workdays. To see more of Larry’s murals, visit: muralz.com.

If you haven’t seen it already, take a few minutes to visit Parkrose High School Community Center at 12003 NE Shaver St. to view this beautiful artwork on the east side of the building.

Olympic style boxing makes its Mid-county debut

The Knott St. Boxing Club presents and Olympic style amateur boxing tournament (“Rumble”) Saturday, August 11 at Catalina’s Mexican Restaurant, 10902 N.E. Sandy Blvd.

The bouts begin at 3 p.m., outsidfe in the parking lot of Catalina’s Restaurant. General Admission tickets are $10 each with front row seats going for $25 apiece.

Rossi Farms Barn Bash always a great time

The Memo was represented in full strength at the 10th annual Rossi Farms Barn Bash. Executive Editor Rich Riegel, Publisher Tim Curran and reporter Lee Perlman were all present and accounted for at the event.

Annually held at Rossi Farms on Northeast 122nd Avenue and Shaver Street the 10th Annual had an announced attendance of 2,000 and raised nearly $20,000 for the Parkrose Youth Activities Fund, a new Mid-county non-profit corporation.
