This group, part of Soroptimists International, works together to invent and implement ways to help less fortunate women and children in the community. This organization blends talents, strengths, and ideas to form a strong network of professionals to imagine and implement projects. These projects support victims of domestic violence and improve the status of women and children. Typical projects include participating in literacy programs; supporting shelters for battered women; participating in environmental clean-up projects; giving funds for scholarships; and other projects as dictated by community need. A major source of funds for the Soroptimist of Portland East is the All-Star Bingo Hall, located on the corner of S.E. 146th Avenue and Stark Street. Come play bingo - maybe even win a little cash - and support local women and children at the same time.
