Beauty your way
To have all your beauty needs met in a friendly, professional manner, visit The Colour Authority salon in Gateway. Though it has earned a formidable reputation specializing in hair coloring, The Colour Authority also offers customers great skincare, massage, facials, manicures, pedicures, and acrylic nails. This popular Gateway salon’s reputation has grown over the past 16 years.

The Colour Authority has 14 specialists to take care of all your beauty needs, from stylists and colorists to a masseuse. They also have a friendly, and efficient spa coordinator, Troutdale native Lacey Lofstedt. “My spa coordinator is critical to the smooth operation of the entire business,” says Colour Authority owner Darleen Hakola. “It all starts with her.” Lofstedt recently returned to the area after attending the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She worked at the Colour Authority on a part time basis while at Sam Barlow high school. Lofstedt’s mission is to take care of clients before they get in the beauty chair. “I pride myself on making every client’s visit as relaxing and enjoyable as possible,” says Lacey.

Olivia Garwood joined the Color Authority team right out of beauty school. She has to travel an hour each way to work, but says that it’s worth it because “The staff made me feel right at home and the atmosphere is wonderful.” Olivia is currently assistant to the owner but will become an independent stylist in 2003.

In the skin care department, estheticians, Mindy Lee, Jessica Carpentar and Lindsey Titus do a European Style Facial. Using the renowned Elysee’ products, skin feels extremely soft, supple and moist.

The Colour Authority also offers that most relaxing of spa offerings - massage by Linda Davenport. Let her talented hands massage away your stress. She has a background in various types of massage that will bring about good health, relaxation of the body and wellness in your mental state. The Colour Authority is proud to have Linda as part of their team of experts, adding another dimension to the services you can receive at the Colour Authority.

Of course, no salon would be complete without nail care. Pedicures and manicures by Tuyet Bach and Jana Olsen are a special treat for your hands and feet. Tuyet is an expert in the care of your nails through quality manicures and learning about your hands. Your feet will enjoy the grooming that only a professional pedicure can give them.

For your travel needs, the salon recommends waxing of the face and body. Lash and brow tinting will keep your grooming needs to a minimum while you are gone, and color experts can adjust your hair color to diminish the appearance of roots.

In addition to these more unusual services, The Colour Authority offers the full range of services: haircuts for men, women and children, process color, full weave, shampoo and style, partial weave and color remover services. The Colour Authority stylists were educated by leaders in the beauty field and are continually and expertly guided by owner Darleen Hakola.

Darleen Hakola owns and operates The Colour Authority. She has won several prestigious awards and been featured in several national magazines. She is available for free consultations, by appointment only. Darleen can give you guidance about your hair color and style, what will look good on you, how she can get you on the road to high quality hair, and help you choose a great cut and color of which you can be proud. Consultation hours are available Tuesday through Friday.

The Colour Authority wants you to feel confident and comfortable in choosing their salon to bring you the best in hair services. You are welcome to visit the salon at any time to observe the staff at work, and you can ask any questions of the stylists, facialists, nail technicians or masseuse via their email at: thestaff@colourauthority.com

The Colour Authority invites community members to visit the salon and its new members at 11121 N.E. Halsey St. For more information, call The Colour Authority to set up a free consultation today at 503-255-4510 or email thestaff@colour-authority.com.
